In a sermon seemingly designed to defend their strip-mined ecclesiology and rebuke whatever number of actual disciples who might be left in the audience of 8 thousand people, David Hughes – pastor of the Southern Baptist, Church by the Glades – calls those in his church who desire to be taught doctrine “the excrement of the body of Christ.”

Hughes takes from the material of seeker-friendly master, Ed Young, as he pulls out a table with one seat called the “I Chair” (like “high chair,” get it?).

I did a little research and apparently the church was about 500 and now is at 8,000 or so. It’s advertised as a ‘safe’ place for non-believers, which really probably means you won’t find a clear presentation of the Gospel within a mile of the place. And actually, Steven Furtick at Elevation Church had a variation a few years back when he came down hard on anyone who sat on the front row, took notes, or dared to criticize. It’s a common theme but this clown really got nasty. Maybe he was trying to outdo the other guys.
